What we collect, why, how long we keep it, and how you delete it. In plain words.

The PasCalculator app and Cal are for ages 13 and up. The calculator part works for anyone, with no app and no data.
Who we are

What we collect, and why

Wifi passwords go from your phone straight to the calculator over Bluetooth. They stay on the calculator and are never sent to our server.
Your photos
- Each photo is stored on our server next to its question. Only the phone paired with that calculator can see it.
- After 30 days the photo deletes itself. The question and answer stay in History until you delete them.
- Deleting a question deletes its photo at the same moment.
- Please photograph only the homework, not faces or other people.
Cal is AI
Cal's answers are written by an AI model from OpenAI, in the United States. To answer you, the question text or photo is sent to OpenAI, so your data may be processed outside Canada. We use settings that stop it being used to train their models to be confirmed.
- We never sell personal data.
- No ads, ever, in the calculator or the app.
- We never use your questions or photos to train AI models without asking you first.
- Our cloud host, payment company and email service get only what they need to run the PasCalculator.
Ages
- Under 13: the app and Cal are not for you. The app asks your age before pairing, and accounts can't be made under 13.
- 13 to 17: answers stay about schoolwork, with safety filters, and we tell you clearly that answers come from AI and can be wrong.
- In Quebec the age for consent is 14.
- If we learn we collected data from someone under 13, we delete it.
Keeping it safe
- Each calculator has its own secret token, and each phone pairs using a secret code from the calculator's screen.
- If there's a data breach that could seriously harm you, we tell you and Canada's Privacy Commissioner, as Canadian law requires.
Your choices
- Delete everything: in the app, Me, Privacy, "Delete all my questions and photos". It removes every question, answer, photo and saved setting of that calculator from our server, right away.
- Delete one question: swipe it left in History, or open it and tap Delete.
- Ask for a copy of your data, or to correct it: [email protected]. We answer within 30 days.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we tell you in the app before it applies.
